Why don't they ask? Toxic workplaces often neglect to seek your perspective or feedback regarding their actions, which raises questions about their motivations. This lack of inquiry may stem from a desire to maintain control or avoid accountability for their behavior. By not engaging in dialogue, they can perpetuate a toxic environment without facing the consequences of their actions.

The most protective thing you can do in a dysfunctional workplace is document what's happening while you're still there. But not in a work tool. On something you own. Date, who was involved, what happened, what was said. That's it. Keep it factual. Five minutes on Fridays to log anything from the week before it fades. You're protecting yourself in a place that clearly has some structural issues. And if nothing ever comes of it, good. But if it does, you'll have exactly what you need.
