I’ve been unemployed from my corporate biotech job for nearly a year. The company needed to restructure to cut $100M in costs. Since I have a PhD and experience in marketing, sales, and business, lots of companies want to hire me, calling me a “unicorn.” That is until they read my writing. Last year I published my article, “Racism: Effective Business Strategy or Anachronism. A Cost-Benefit Analysis of Systemic Prejudice in Modern Global Economies.”

The most valuable career advice I can share: Don’t tie your identity to a person, place, organization, company, or project. Instead, commit yourself to a mission, a purpose, or a greater calling. That’s how you stay grounded, empowered, and at peace. It’s been a strategy that has served me well throughout my career.

having a job is crazy bc if someone held out 19$ & asked me to sit at a desk doing nothing for an hour, I would probably say no 😭😭😭
